For college students

About 1 in 3 college students may qualify for SNAP. Most never enroll.

SNAP rules for students are more complicated than for most adults, so eligible students assume they don't qualify and never apply. Federal work-study, paid work, caring for a young child, having a disability, receiving TANF, and approved workforce or training programs can each create an eligibility pathway. Compass checks every one — it doesn't stop after finding the first.
